We’ve been hinting at one last announcement before we head off to PAX West 2019, and we are SO honored to finally share that we’ll be working with VIZ Media to bring the indie game Garden Story to a wider audience!
Dark Souls. Super Meat Boy. Contra: Hard Corps. There are games and genres where losing is made fun by design, and the achievement of winning--as a result--feels even better. But not every player wants an intentionally challenging game, and not every game is meant to be challenging in that sort of way!
In 2016, we teamed up with Cartoon Network to do something that had never been done before: Run a “game jam” event for an IP that had not yet been fully developed, but was destined for an international release as an animated television show.
We certainly weren’t strangers to game jams at the time (the CNGJ was my 16th), but this one was very special to us.
Hello! We're back and fully recovered from a GDC full of meetings, parties, and showing off the demo of our first original game: The World Next Door!
Over the week, we met with press and industry friends at our publisher's offices in San Francisco to show off our pre-alpha build. We got a lot of valuable feedback, and right after GDC we saw some great first impressions from Polygon, Gameinformer, and Venturebeat!
We've been really excited to talk about this for awhile, and we're finally ready to go public! Rose City Games is making 3 original titles and launching a new indie game publishing platform with VIZ Media. We've been long time fans of VIZ's properties, so creating new worlds with them is pretty much a perfect fit!
We attended PIGSquad's Global Game Jam this weekend! Many of us at Rose City Games help organize events with PIGSquad, but it's very special to us that we're able to come in as sponsors this year.
