What a cat-astrophe! Ally Marie arrives at her Grandma's cat-filled mansion but is startled to find an ancient evil has awoken. All of Grandma’s household items are possessed, transforming them into monsters... and the cats can talk! With the help of her feline friends, Ally must find a way to turn the mansion back to normal by defeating the demons lurking within.
On February 6, 2018, Rose City Games and VIZ Media announced a partnership to debut original, narrative-driven games starting with The World Next Door, which released on PC and Switch on 3/28/19.
The original concept for Cat Lady was created during a game jam in collaboration with Will Lewis and Jake Fleming in the summer of 2017 (the very same jam where the idea for The World Next Door, Rose City’s first game, also originated!) Rose City Games pitched the concept to VIZ Media shortly after The World Next Door entered production, and Cat Lady was greenlit to enter its prototyping phase in 2018 to iterate on the art style, test gameplay mechanics, and find the fun!
The game has been in full production ever since and shared its first playable demo at The MIX E3 2019. Rose City Games shared Cat Lady's gameplay trailer in July 2019, revealing features like roguelike gameplay, top-down combat, swapping and upgrading cats, unique gameplay arenas, and a soundtrack by Jim Guthrie and JJ Ipsen.
